Brain–Robot–Artificial Intelligence Integrated System

BRAINs Lab
Bridging the Gap Between Brain, Robots, and Artificial Intelligence

The BRAINs Lab (Brain–Robot–Artificial Intelligence Integrated System Laboratory) at POSTECH explores the intersection of neuroscience, robotics, and artificial intelligence. We unite these fields to decode how the brain works and to design its abilities in robots.

Through an integrated “brain–robot–AI” approach, we develop next-generation reinforcement learning algorithms, bio-inspired robots, and advanced neural probe systems — creating technologies that explore the deepest mysteries of the brain and redefine how humans and machines interact.

Our Core Research Areas

01

Brain-Computer Interface

We design advanced neural probe systems and interfaces that record and decode neural activity, building reliable bridges between the brain and external machines — to understand how the brain works and to restore or extend its abilities.

02

Bio-Inspired Micro-Robotics

Drawing on principles observed in living organisms, we develop bio-inspired and soft micro-robots that move, sense, and adapt within complex physical environments, translating the intelligence of biological systems into engineered machines.

03

AI-Integrated Physical Convergence

We build next-generation reinforcement learning algorithms and physical-AI systems that unite perception, learning, and action — seamlessly synthesizing human intelligence, robotics, and AI to bridge the gap between the physical and digital worlds.
